Ready to help with the Blue Shield ?

International Blue Shield's Mission to Haiti - Online Report

The Blue Shield International sent two experts in Port-au-Prince from 11th to 16th of April. Danielle Mincio (IFLA) and Christophe Jacobs (ICA and ANCBS) went there in order to work with the Haitian colleagues. They have taken all the necessary information to the establishment of the Blue Shield center for the treatment of damaged cultural heritage properties. This was also the opportunity to complete the assessments made previously to quantify the affected collections and various types of treatments which will be offered in this center.

Blue Shield's action plan

The international Blue Shield network worked hard last weeks on defining an action plan for helping Haitian colleagues. You will find in this press release all the actions we are developing and proposing to our partners. Some have already been done, others are ongoing. If you want to help us by becoming a partner of these actions, please feel free to join us.

Online Directory of Damaged Cultural Properties

Blue Shield decided to publish pages dedicated to each identified cultural and governmental site. They can be used by Haitian and international authorities and NGOs to track projects and avoid overlap. Fifty pages are already published, based on data collected and status reports from Blue Shield organisations and others. They can be accessed here: http://haiti2010.blueshield-international.org/directory.

Where are our volunteers coming from ?

Hazte voluntario

Volunteer online

An important task of ANCBS is to coordinate information. ANCBS needs to know who and where the experts are. ANCBS therefore calls upon archivists, restorers, curators, librarians, architects and other experts to register online as a volunteer.

ANCBS wants to be able to bring experts in contact with those organizations that will send missions to Haiti. And make sure that you will be informed about the situation in Haiti.
